mannequins in resin, PLA, foam, acrylic, plaster

A critique of emotional numbness in society, represented through mannequins and molded forms portraying psychological exhaustion.
I focus on the small things in everyday life—those banal images that, although seemingly insignificant, accumulate to create immense weight. I like to shed light on those simple situations we ignore or endure, telling ourselves: “But really, it’s nothing, considering everything we’re going through!” Through this act of minimization, we end up pushing unresolved problems to the background.
Apathy, synonymous with impassivity, is a state of indifference to emotions, motivation, or passion. An apathetic individual lacks emotional, social, spiritual, or philosophical interest. Sometimes accompanied by physical manifestations, apathy can also make one seem insensitive to others.
In our pursuit to display stoicism and repress our emotions, we must acknowledge that, as humans, we are emotional beings by nature. Despite our efforts to maintain a composed appearance, our inner feelings eventually surface and crack through at some point.
My installations exploring the “tired citizen” use mannequins, body molds, and 3D prints. Following a process I call “Frankenstein Citizens,” these figures enrich the dialogue around the parallels within my universe, linked to subtly offbeat everyday experiences.
